Newly Defined: Chai, Tea Latte & Milk Tea

In the interest of making your reading experience on About Coffee / Tea more seamless and complete, I recently added three interrelated definitions to the tea glossary: chai, tea latte and milk tea.

Can a chai be a tea latte? Absolutely. Can a tea latte be a milk tea? Yup -- and it usually is. Learn about the differences between these three related terms:

Egg Nog Latte

How could I resist an egg nog recipe with coffee? You can use store bought egg nog for this recipe, or your favourite home-made variety.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups egg nog
  • 1 tbs rum
  • 1 tbs bourbon
  • 1 cup hot coffee

Preparation:

Heat egg nog until hot (do not boil). Blend with liqueurs and coffee in a blender until nog is frothy. Serve warm.
Serves 5

Iced Chai Latte Recipe

This easy Iced Chai Latte recipe is made with instant chai concentrate. It can be served on ice or it can be blended into a smooth, frosty chai drink.

Prep Time: 02 minutes

Cook Time: 02 minutes

Total Time: 4 minutes

Yield: 3 cups (2 servings)

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups ice (roughly 12 to 15 ice cubes)
  • 1 cup masala chai concentrate, such as Rishi Tea's Masala Chai Tea Concentrate
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1-2 tsp. good quality chocolate or white chocolate syrup (Optional)

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients. Stir well or blend in a blender until smooth.
