Pirate's Treasure (shooter)

The aptly named Pirate's Treasure is a fun drink to make and a tempting taste. The key is to layer the spirits in order so that your finished shot looks like a treasure of gold (gold flakes of Goldschlager) underground (guarded by the dirt-brown of the pirate Captain Morgan). The affect is quite cool if you get distinct layers, it's almost too bad that it is a shooter and doesn't last long.

Ingredients:

• 3/4 oz Goldschlager cinnamon liqueur
• 3/4 oz Captain Morgan Spiced Rum

Preparation:

1. Pour the Goldschlager into a shot glasses.
2. Float the rum on top by pouring it slowly over the back of a bar spoon.

Candy Corn (shooter)

The Candy Corn shooter is fun, popular, low in alcohol and tastes pretty good, so all around it's a great shot. The key to the "candy corn" effect is to layer the ingredients according to their specific gravity so that you get that beautiful and distinct striping, just like the Halloween candy.

Ingredients:

• 1/3 oz Galliano
• 1/3 orange curacao
• 1/3 oz cream

Preparation:

1. Pour the Galliano into a shot glass.
2. Float the orange curacao on top.
3. Float the cream on top.

Silver Bullet (shooter)

The two spirits in this shooter do not make a regular appearance in this style of drink, usually they are reserved for the more graceful cocktails. However, the Silver Bullet rather fancy in comparison to some of the crudely named and constructed shots out there. The gin and Scotch are an interesting mix and, for that final polish, this shot is decorated with a lemon twist.

Ingredients:

• 1 1/4 oz gin
• 3/4 oz Scotch
• lemon twist for garnish

Preparation:

1. Pour the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a shot glass.
4. Squeeze the lemon twist over the shot the hang it on the rim as a garnish.

Grasshopper (shooter)

This Grasshopper is the shooter version of the popular Grasshopper cocktail. The resulting shot is a light green color with a minty chocolate flavor that is light in comparison with other shooters and will fit perfectly with your St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

Ingredients:

• 1/2 oz green creme de menthe
• 1/2 oz light cream
• 1/2 oz creme de cacao

Preparation:

1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a shot glass.

Anaconda (shooter)

The Anaconda is a tough, full-flavored shot that is quite interesting. This whiskey shot is customarily made with the popular Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey but any brand will do - although each produce a slightly different flavor. The sambuca is the star in the Anaconda because of its distinct black licorice-like flavoring (from anise) and takes over the majority of the taste.

Ingredients:

• 3/4 oz Jack Daniel's whiskey
• 3/4 oz white sambuca

Preparation:

1. Pour the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
2. Shake well.

Fireball (shooter)

There may be a line that has been crossed with this spicy shooter. You see the Fireball is not just cinnamon and it's not all about a dash or two of hot sauce. No, this one combines the two. As much as I can appreciate the two flavors, I just can't take the two at once. However, a lot of people have fun with this "hot" shot, whether it be a "how much heat can you take?" contest or a joke played on a buddy. It's interesting, I'll give it that.

Ingredients:

• 3/4 oz white rum
• 3/4 oz cinnamon schnapps
• 2 dashes Tabasco sauce
