Top Chai Recipes

The term 'chai' doesn't refer to an actual kind of tea or a specific drink, but a style of preparing it. Chai tea is usually served with a milk or cream, and is heavily spiced. Common spices in chai are cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, and allspice. Chai has come to North America from India, and has gained much popularity at coffeehouses and tea shops everywhere. It's not hard to make at home, and many of the spices are ones you likely have in your pantry.

Kashmiri Chai Tea

Powdered almonds make this chai a little bit nutty, and you can really taste the cinnamon and cardamom as well. If you don't have real saffron (it's very expensive) you can always leave that out.

Spicy Milk Tea

A recipe for chai tea, with extra milk. Not all chai recipes call for black tea. Using green tea will change the flavour entirely, making it fresh and bright.

Masala Spice Chai

One of my own favorite recipes for spiced tea, or chai. Nothing too exotic, so this is a great choice for the beginner chai maker.

Moon Chai

With so many spices in this chai recipe, you might want to blend them ahead of time for quicker preparation. Either way, the extra effort is worth it for this zesty chai recipe.

Thai Iced Tea

A creamy iced tea, with some spicy hints. An iced tea recipe for all chai fans. Only a couple of spices, but enough to make a delicious impact.

Holiday au Lait

A spiced coffee that is perfectly suited for the holiday season, but you can make this cafe au lait style drink any time of the year. Cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg go so well together.

Four Spice Chai

A creamy chai with the zip of whole peppercorns.
