Martin Miller's Gin 'Trading Up' Cocktail Competition

A quick announcement for everyone who loves a little competition. Martin Miller's Gin is currently seeking submissions for their 'Trading Up' competition. It's a fun concept that I think you'll enjoy.

Essentially, they are looking for a retake of some drinks that - I think many of us agree - need a serious facelift. The examples given are? Sex on the Beach, Sloe Comfortable Screw, Long Island Iced Tea, and Singapore Sling... basically, the over-boozed, super-indulgent drinks of the 80's, or as the contest description says:

"Martin Miller thinks it's about time these dubious old cocktails and their even more dubious names were consigned to history. Martin would like to know how you would drag some of those cocktail relics from the eighties into the 21st century."

Here, here! All of the voting takes place on Facebook and more info can be found on the Martin Miller page here. Deadline in November 15th. Of course, whether the cocktail being recreated is gin-based or not, all recipes need to include either Martin Miller's 80 proof or the equally impressive Westbourne Strength.

Gin fanatic that I am, I have a great fondness for Martin Miller's Gin and a great respect for the men behind the drink. It sounds like a great contest idea and I can't wait to see what everyone has to offer.
