Bluecoat American Dry Gin is an aromatic gin with a bouquet designed for a defined palate. Guide Review - Bluecoat American Dry Gin

The United States isn't the best known country for its gin but there are now a few distilleries taking on the spirit who have a great start on changing this reputation. Philadelphia Distilling and Master Distiller Robert J. Cassell are doing just that with their release of Bluecoat Gin. What they have created is a stunningly aromatic and deep gin from organic botanicals, and that aspect is not only comforting but a welcome addition to the conscious spirit market. As a further step to ensure the quality, Bluecoat blends with triple filtered water and each small batch is tasted for quality before bottling.

As with any spirit, the true test is in the taste and, especially for gin, in its mixability. To gin cocktails Bluecoat brings an interesting flavor, one that is unique because of its fine balance between juniper and citrus - its dominating flavors. So, yes, it does make a remarkable Martini, but I also enjoy it in lightly fruit gin cocktails like the Aviation, Pegu Club and Floradora. A sweet touch can also be found in cocktails similar to the Perfect Martini, where a semi-sweet, semi-dry and very aromatic pleasure is exposed to the palate.

Tasting Notes:
Bluecoat opens with a beautifully aromatic nose of rose hips, juniper and lemon zest. The herbal palate is smooth and deep, filled with an earthy juniper and lovely citrus blend. Bluecoat finishes off with a long and deep flavor with a combination of dark wood and bright earthy notes that both contrast and compliment each other.
